Handling a collection of classical music requires special consideration. iTunes and its database offer excellent basic facilities, but for the discerning music lover there can be major limitations.

The key areas to consider are genre, composer, track data and album art. This is how we can address each area.

Genre
iTunes describes all classical music simply as 'Classical'. If you wish we can break this into more meaningful genres. We can select these for you or work to your criteria.

Composer
There is no agreed naming convention with music labels, consequently Mozart appears as Mozart, W A Mozart, Mozart W A, and so on. This means that when you try to access your music by composer you get a confusing mess of names. Our Data Grooming function resolves this, by standardising on the names of 40 of the most widely recorded composers.

Track Data
While many clients are happy with the normal iTunes information we have found clients who want to be sure track data contains, for example, the names of the orchestra and conductor. This can be checked as we rip your music.

Album Art
Clients enjoy seeing a small image of the album cover as they listen to their music. While this is relatively easy to provide for popular music it is much more difficult with classical CDs. There are fewer images online, and naming makes it difficult to match accurately. Because we operate both Windows and Apple computers we can use four different software packages to seek out album art, we believe this is the most thorough approach available.
